Your institution may need to re-populate a vacant animal room or perhaps even a whole building that was vacated during the pandemic.
You’ll want to develop a comprehensive re-population and operations plan via discussions with representative administrators, comparative medicine staff, animal-research scientists, and with facilities maintenance staff and purchasing staff as well. We owe it to the research and scientific efforts of our institutions, to our staff, and especially to our research subjects – the animals themselves, to get it right and get back on-track as quickly as possible.
VRL’s Dr. William Porter has provided a list of the 5 considerations you’ll need to take when re-populating your lab rodent areas.
